Currently, smartphone vendors seem to be required to update their devices every six months. But not with Nubia, they decided to present the Red Magic 7S Series. In fact, it’s only been five months since the Red Magic 7 variant was launched last February.

The reason, apart from being able to use the latest chipset from Qualcomm. With the launch of Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, automatically pushes the presence of the Red Magic 7S. It is claimed that this new chipset can provide 10% faster performance with 30% better power efficiency.

In terms of design, this smartphone looks similar to the previous generation. If the standard variant has a parallel camera module setup, the Pro variant has a square design. There is RGB light access on the Pro version which is part of the device’s physical fan. Then what distinguishes the standard version from the Pro version?

Both of them use the fastest chipset, bringing a layered cooling system, from a special fan to a graphite coating inside. It doesn’t only function to cool the hardware so that performance remains fast when playing games. But also for the battery and the charging process. The difference is that the Pro version has an option of up to 18GB of RAM and up to 1TB of memory. While the standard version has the option of 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of memory. The Pro variant uses a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel with full HD + resolution and a touch sampling rate of up to 960Hz. However, the refresh rate is lower at 120Hz than the standard version which has a refresh rate of 165Hz. Why is that? Due to the use of the under-display front camera.

The front camera has an 8MP resolution that can be hidden for a more comfortable and relieved gaming experience. Whereas in the standard version, the front camera is on the top bezel which is made a little thicker, like the ROG Phone 6. At the back, there is the exact same triple camera setup. It carries a 64MP main sensor, 8MP Ultra Wide-angle, and 2MP Macro.

Battery capacity and charging speed are also different. The Red Magic 7S Pro variant has a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 135W fast charging. while the standard variant has a battery capacity of 4,500 mAh & 120W. claimed to be able to be fully charged in just 15 minutes. Meanwhile, to reach 50% only takes 5 minutes.


In the sales package, a 165W charger adapter with GaN is available which is compatible with other modern devices including laptops. There are two additional buttons called “shoulder triggers” similar to the POCO F4 GT. As for the connectivity sector, it is still equipped with a 3.5mm audio jack.

This smartphone will run the Android 12 operating system with the Red Magic 5.0 interface. In its home country, the Red Magic 7S retails for CNY3999 or around US$593.84 for the 8+128GB memory option. While the Pro version with 12+256GB memory sells for CNY5199 or around US$772.04. Sales begin on July 15 in their home country.
