OPPO Find N, a Folding Screen Smartphone From OPPO

After many rumors circulating since the last few weeks, the Oppo Find N has finally been inaugurated. Because it tends to be late from competitors, of course, there is enough time for Oppo to perfect its folding mechanism.

The launch of the Oppo Find N is part of the OPPO INNO DAY 2021 event series. On the first day of the event, the wearable device Oppo Air Glass and the NPU MariSilicon X were introduced. Both will only be available in early 2022.

Folding smartphones others such as the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Huawei Mate X2, both have a large design, with a slim form factor, and are tall when folded. While Oppo here has a different approach. Oppo wants to present a device that is still comfortable to use with one hand when folded.

OPPO Find N Has Smaller Dimensions

The design of this smartphone is inspired by the Find X3 Pro, especially on the camera module. Using Gorilla Glass Victus material to make it more shatter-resistant, but there is no official IP rating. Although Oppo claims that this device is safe even if it is splashed with water. The weight of this smartphone is 275 grams with a thickness of 15.9mm when it is folded. Unlike Samsung, the folding screen mechanism of this smartphone does not provide distance when closed. The mechanism helps protect the screen inside better. The external screen itself is 5.5 inches, using an AMOLED panel with a conventional ratio of 18: 9.

With the panel LTPO, the refresh rate can be adjusted from 1 Hz to save more power. Even though it has the same ultra-thin glass coating as Samsung’s, the folds of the Find N are claimed to be 80% better by TUV Rheinland. So you don’t see a crease in the middle. It has been tested to survive at least 200 thousand times of screen opening and closing tests.

The screen can be opened at various angles flexibly. On each screen, a punch-hole camera is prepared using a 32MP Sony sensor. looks like Oppo wants to prioritize the quality of photos and videos rather than full-screen display when the camera is not in use.

Has a 50MP Main Sensor

On the back, there are three Sony sensors. The main sensor has a resolution of 50MP, using the type IMX766. While the other two sensors are 16MP Ultra Wide-Angle and Telephoto 2x optical zoom with 13MP resolution. However, this smartphone still doesn’t use NPU MariSilicon X Oppo’s latest. Why? This smartphone camera uses the Snapdragon 888 chipset, not the newer Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. At least offset by the extra RAM capacity is relieved. The highest variant will have 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, plus 512GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage.
