California Streaming, a virtual event held by Apple a few days ago to inaugurate their iPhone 13 series. At the event, Apple unveiled the 4 series iPhone 13, namely the iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. In terms of design, the new thing seen on the iPhone 13 is the rear camera design which is arranged diagonally. Comes with the ProMotion Display feature which allows the screen to set the refresh rate from 10 Hz to 120 Hz.

The iPhone 13 series uses Apple’s latest chipset, the A15 Bionic. This chipset is claimed to be the fastest CPU compared to any smartphone and 50% faster than its competitors. Not only that but the GPU is also claimed to be 30% faster than the others. Its 16-core Neural Engine is also said to be capable of performing 15.8 trillion operations per second. Here are six new features of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro.

1. Cinematic Mode (iPhone 13 & iPhone 13 Pro)

This mode allows the smartphone to automatically change focus from one object to another. This feature was present on other smartphones such as the Sony Xperia 1 II, but this is a first for the iPhone.

2. Photographic Styles (iPhone 13 & iPhone 13 Pro)

This feature is as useful as Adobe Lightroom which allows users to define a certain look in photos. However, Apple applies it during shooting, rather than after.

3. Macro Mode (iPhone 13 Pro)

This new camera has an aperture of f/1.8 and a 120-degree field of view. It has a new lens design as well as an autofocus system and zooms in on subjects from a distance of 2 cm. This new macro mode can be extended to video, including Slo-mo and Time-lapse modes.

4. Apple ProRes (iPhone 13 Pro)

This is a compressed video format that provides easy editing in programs like Apple Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro, without losing detail. Apple has not disclosed any of the six ProRes formats. However, it is said that users can record 4K/30p ProRes files. Unless the user chooses the 128GB model, as it will lower the video quality to 1080p/30p.

5. Larger Camera Sensor (iPhone 13 & iPhone 13 Pro)

Both series get an upgrade on the wide camera which gets a bigger sensor. The iPhone 13 inherits the same main camera as the iPhone 12 Pro Max. With 1.7 micron pixels, sensor-shift optical stabilization, and f/1.6 aperture. While the main wide camera of the iPhone 13 Pro features the largest sensor with 1.9-micron pixels, sensor-shift stabilization, and an f/1.5 lens. According to Apple, this provides a 2.2x improvement in low-light shooting compared to the iPhone 12 Pro Max.

6. Night Mode on All Cameras (iPhone 13 Pro)

Apple says the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini will get an improved night mode, but the Pro models will get additional support across all three cameras. For many, this is actually the biggest camera upgrade in the new iPhone Pro, given the versatility of night mode.
